Signs of Ecstasy Use

A Brief Introduction To Ecstasy

Ecstasy, which is also called MDMA more frequently, is an upper that has been slightly modified from methamphetamine and is generally taken in clubs and causes the user to feel euphoric and have intense feelings of empathy. Ecstasy is a dangerous drug to take because manufacturers and dealers might mix different drugs into the formula that they sell to unsuspecting users and excessive usage can turn dangerous quickly. Ecstasy is usually taken in clubs, and some even have a "chill room" in which users can go to consume this and other drugs like ketamine and marijuana.

What Are The Signs of Ecstasy Use?

Immediately After Taking Ecstasy

The immediate signs of ecstasy use are a strong feeling of euphoria, feelings of heightened tactile sensations or feelings of being able to 'experience' music, the user might also experience a surge in energy that enables him or her to dance all night without feeling tired or the need to stop. The user also needs to constantly drink water since taking ecstasy causes dehydration and, in extreme cases, may cause the user to get seriously hurt. Most deaths caused by ecstasy are usually caused by overheating rather than overdosing, although the latter has happened before. Ecstasy is also commonly connected to having more sexual partners and to risky sex. This is because users feel like they are 'in love' or 'connected' to those around them after taking the drug.

The user might also experience nausea, teeth clenching, a rise in temperature and blurry vision. The user might seem a little disoriented after he or she starts to come down from the use of the drug.

Eventually After Taking Ecstasy

If you think your loved one might be taking ecstasy, keep an eye out for when they come home. If they are still energetic and ready to dance, but seem disoriented and like they are having a difficult time concentrating and even going to sleep, that could be a sign of ecstasy use. Risky sexual behavior could also be caused by ecstasy use. Like alcohol, ecstasy has a hangover effect, however it is much more severe and can last up to several days after the user has taken the drug. The user may seem withdrawn, stay in bed, complain of headaches and be more irritable and anxious than usual.

Long-Term After Taking Ecstasy

Not necessarily a long time after taking ecstasy but still after ecstasy has been used for several times or for a certain amount of time, the user's brain chemistry will change. This might lead the user to become a bit more depressed in general, have anxiety issues, become paranoid, quick to anger, aggressive and violent. These effects usually only last a few days but they may actually affect some users for several weeks after they had taken ecstasy. Users might have a more difficult time being happy and finding themselves content doing things that they used to do.

One of the most dangerous properties of ecstasy is addiction. If you think your loved one might be addicted to ecstasy, seek the help of a professional.
